Course Credits SSA students receive four credits towards graduation for every 120 hours completed on the job site (up to a maximum of 16 credits for 480 hours). Four credits are given for each of the following courses:
SSA - 11A SSA - 11B SSA - 12A SSA - 12B
SSA Scholarship The $1000 SSA Scholarship is awarded to students who complete 480 hours of paid work experience in their trade area, graduate from high school with a 67% average in their grade 12 courses, and continue in their apprenticeship for at least five (5) months after graduation or accumulate 900 documented work-based training hours.
What is a "Hidden Apprentice" A student who has a part-time job in a recognized trade, but is not registered in the SSA program.
To determine if you are a "hidden apprentice," review the list of ITA recognized trades at http://www.itabc.ca or talk to your Career Development Facilitator. If you are a hidden apprentice, then by registering as a Secondary School Apprentice you will become eligible for the $1,000 scholarship and SSA credits.
