Summer post-secondary dual credit courses
Summer Dual Credit Post-Secondary courses that you attend in July & August after having completed grade 11:
These are individual district partnership courses. Upon completion, students receive 3 post-secondary university-college credits and 4 high school credits.
Applications are due by April 15th of your grade 11 Year. Please download the application below and contact the Career Centre for information about how to apply
- Introduction to Health Sciences (KPU Nursing, credit for 1st year UBC, SFU Kinesiology)
- Practice for Child and Youth Care Counsellors (Douglas College – counselling, youth work & policing)
- Intro to Legal Office Procedures (KPU – careers in law)
- Community and Public Safety with a VPD Police Sergeant (NVIT -- Tuesdays 5pm to 8pm, Sept. – Dec.)

KPU High School on Campus - a dual credit program
What is the KPU High School on Campus Dual Credit program?
KPU and School District #36 have partnered together to create a Dual Credit program. This option may allow you to take one (or more) university level course(s) during your high school grade 12 year free of charge.
This program is for students who are in Grade 12. A student in grade 11 who wishes to apply should have completed English 11 and Math 11 by first semester of grade 11 (Q1 or Q2).
Tuition for each KPU course is paid for by the district. Select KPU courses are offered online, Monday to Friday, after-school, normally 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
Benefits of Dual Credit

Benefits of Dual Credit
- Get a head start on university studies.
- Application fees and student fees waived. For a selection of courses, tuition may be paid by school district.
- Experience university with other KPU students.
- Credits may be transferable to other institutions.
- B or higher in English 11 (recommended).
- B or higher in Math 11 (recommended).
- Recommendation to the program from your School Administrator/Counsellor.
- Letter of consent from your Parent/Guardian.
- Student should be taking 8 courses in their grade 11 year (includes a Study)
- Visit or message Ms. Konkin or Mr. Deol from the Career Centre to review your transcript, and get you organized.
- Ensure that you will be able to meet ALL of the requirements listed above
- Read the documents below. Begin by looking at the Course Descriptions and the Course Selection guide.
- Discuss course options with Advising Staff at KPU, current KPU students, or Career Centre staff to understand which course is best for you
- Submit all of the document listed below by the deadlines
- Deadlines: *early May for 1st semester courses * early October for 2nd semester courses

- Dual Credit Application Application – fully completed including contract portion & waiver
- Teacher Reference Form - please email this to your Reference & have them email directly
Concurrent Studies - 1st year university courses - competitive entry
These courses offer a head start on university and university admission. Unlike the Dual Credit options above, these courses are fully paid for by students.

Process for taking a Concurrent KPU Post-Secondary Course in grade 12:
Who Can Apply?
High school students in grade 11 or 12 are encouraged to apply online. Students must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and must have outstanding academic achievement, demonstrated by their high school transcript and a letter of support from their principal.
Upon submission of an online KPU Application for Admission to an open intake in the Faculty of Arts, Business or Science & Horticulture, the following requirements apply:
